Plant some seeds and glowing flowers grow, illuminating everything around them. (Munch on a glowing flower and your character will glow for a few minutes, too.) Aside from selling supplies, the Bearded Merchant sells items that can be used to re-summon certain bosses such as all giant slimes and Ghorm; you simply need to purchase these items and place them on the boss' rune to get them to reappear. Feel free to farm the bosses for fun and profit if you want!

But soon that narrow tunnel is lit with torches, side chambers have been found and dim light spills in from all sides, and I'm scampering back and forth through those passages like they're just another cheery, familiar road leading back home.

Still Core Keeper Gameplay being early access, there isn’t much of a tutorial, or, like, any tutorial at all, so be on the lookout for little visual cues to learn how to interact with things. Different icons will become highlighted and let you know how to open various other menus, so if you’re trying to do something and not having much success, just take a second to see if the game is desperately trying to tell you to press E instead of angrily clicking away.

Using your Pickaxe, break up the wood logs surrounding the Core. Craft a couple of basic Chests from your inventory and place them so you can store excess items. Then craft a Basic Workbench and interact with it.

Minimap: This shows you the map of the area immediately around you. Icons for bosses that you have located will also show up on this map, giving you an idea of which direction you need to go in order to reach them.

I may be in a cave with dirt walls lit only by torchlight, but in that cave I've got a little farm growing lovely, chunky vegetables and a cooking pot where I can combine them for yummy meals. I've built bridges over dark, bottomless chasms and slashed through chambers filled with wriggling larvae only to find the perfect serene fishing spot in a underground pond. 

You’ll get little XP bonuses for pretty much all the actions you’re already doing, like mining, running, and crafting. But when you see a message that says you’ve got a new skill point, go assign it in your skills menu right away.
